Irish Madeira Silver Wine Label, 1822 JT
£150.00
Wine Label - Madeira; Oval Scroll - Dublin circa 1822 by John Townsend - 5.6cm wide - DO/2415
This good-looking Irish silver wine label was made in Dublin in the early 19th century by John Townsend.
The label has a scroll border and is titled for Madeira. It bears Dublin hallmarks to the front with the distinctive duty mark (furthest left of the three) helping to accurately date this label to 1822-24 and this fits in well with the working period of the maker. John Townsend was a freeman of the city of Dublin between 1802 and 1855.
The bottle ticket is in excellent condition.
