Eye baths are a rare novelty item that are scarcely seen in English silver - this is the first we have encountered with Irish marks! The bath takes the usual navette-shape and is marked to the interior with Hibernia and Crowned Harp marks. The JS maker's mark is located to the underside. The piece post dates the introduction of the duty mark in 1807 and pre-dates the change in punch shape in 1821.
