Irish Shamrock Caddy Spoon, 1905

Caddy Spoon - Shamrock Handle - Dublin 1905 by John Smith - 10cm long - GA/2123
The handle of this beautiful Irish-made silver caddy spoon is in the form of a shamrock tendril. The handle is attached to a deep ovoid bowl and bears Dublin hallmarks to the underside. Although somewhat unusual in manufacture (the tendril is attached to a wire loop to give it strength and is slightly crude to the underside), the effect is terrific and the form of the spoon is unlike any other we have seen. The leaf closest the bowl has been attached separately, we doubt this is a repair but more likely a complication during manufacture!
