Hester Bateman Silver Sauce Ladle, 1777
£165.00
Sauce Ladle - Old English Pattern - London 1777 by Hester Bateman - 17.8cm long; 44g - TR/6833
Silver sauce ladles by Hester Bateman are relatively scarce and this is a good early example with bottom-struck hallmarks for 1777.
The ladle has a deep, circular bowl and the Old English pattern handle is superbly engraved with an original script monogram in block style with additional flourishes. The hallmarks to the back of the stem are typically pinched but include a very clear example of the important "HB" maker's mark. This George III period silver sauce ladle remains in fine condition.
