Hester Bateman Mug, 1781
Mug - Baluster - London 1781 by Hester Bateman - 9.3cm high; 6.4cm diameter base; 240ml; 177g - GD/7447</p>
Mugs were a rare product from the Bateman family silversmithing workshop and this is a fine example with a baluster form. It bears a beautifully engraved block cipher to the front, has a gilt interior and a handsome scroll capped S-shaped handle. This mug has a lovely feeling in the hand, in in fine condition and bears a clear set of hallmarks including the much sought after "HB" in script maker's mark for Hester Bateman.
