Hester Bateman Madeira Label, London c.1780

This beautiful Georgian period silver decanter label was made by Hester Bateman and bears an excellent example of her maker's mark. The label is for Madeira and takes an oval form with outer pierced frame. The decoration is quite stunning with a combination of bright cut engraving and piercing. A major bonus with this example is the superb condition with neither damage nor repair and super-crisp condition.
