'Hand' Caddy Spoon, 1805

Caddy Spoon - 'Hand' - London 1805 by Josiah Snatt - 6.7cm long; 8g - WP/6560
The "Hand" caddy spoon is one of the holy trinity of caddy spoons for the collector - the other two being the jockey cap and eagle's wing - and this is a very fine example of the type. Made in the year that Nelson was victorious at Trafalgar, this spoon has finely modelled fingers (including nails) and a beautifully and cleverly engraved cuff handle. Due to their delicate nature, this type of novelty caddy spoon is prone to damage, but fortunately this example is in fine condition throughout.
