4-piece Tea Service - Boat-shaped with engraved decoration - London 1802 by William Bennett - Teapot - 260mm long; 165mm high; 1010 grams total weight - Ref. No.: NS/8380

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

We are pleased to offer a completely original, matching four piece Georgian tea service with the rare addition of the teapot stand. The elegant teapots of this period did not stand on their own feet and therefore to avoid heat damage to tables the pots were provided with their own trays. These trays are pure elegance in their own right and can also be used for other purposes such as a card tray etc.

The teapot carries its' original ivory handle and finial which remain in excellent condition with the usual shrinkage cracks but no structural defects. The engraved decoration is excellent with a band around the main body, around the top of the shoulder and more unusually around the base. The flush teapot hinge (a sign of high quality in itself) is hidden amongst the engraving.

Each piece in this service bears an engraved crest of a goat within a laurel wreath cartouche to one side and a vacant cartouche to the other. All pieces bear the same hallmarks too. The condition throughout is excellent with neither damage nor repairs. Each piece has a fabulous colour/patina. A first rate service.
