Tea Caddy - Oval with Fluted Cover & Bead Mounts - London 1779 by William Cattell - 12.7cm x 10.3cm oval; 12.5cm high (including finial); 405g - CP/7080
This stylish 18th century tea caddy has several desirable features, including it's hefty weight, that shout quality. The oval shape of the caddy has the typically elegant appearance of the NeoClassical period and the bead borders and fluted cover gives just enough decoration to maintain the balance between plain and stylish, but not too plain! The attractively modeled flower finial is a joy and to the reverse side is a little attention to detail on the hinge that makes this such an appealing tea caddy. The original lock remains in place and although there is no key, one could easily be made by a locksmith for little outlay if required. The condition is excellent throughout with a full set of hallmarks to the underside and appropriate part marks to the cover.
