A good pair of mid-18th century silver sugar nips or tea tongs by one of the best specialist makers. These charming nippers have shell shaped bowls and are marked twice to both finger rings. The lion passant mark is from the 1739 - 55 period and so accurately dating this piece to circa 1755 when Plumpton entered his mark.
