Mote Spoon - Engraved &amp; Pierced Bowl - London circa 1740 by Jeremiah King - 13.8cm long; 10g - AC/1834</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a great example of a mid-18th century silver mote spoon that is a step above the standard examples of the period. The bowl of this Georgian mote skimmer is attractively pierced and more unusually also engraved and the stem has a spear point finial for cleaning the teapot spout. The stem is stamped with a clear maker's mark only (JK in script) and there is an original engraved crest on the heel of the bowl. This wonderful mote spoon is in excellent original condition with neither damage nor repair.

Mote spoons were used to skim the dust particles from the top of cups of tea and also to clean out clogged-up teapot spouts.
