Two-faced Georgian Coffee Pot, 1771

This is a most unusual and very quirky Georgian silver coffee pot. One side looks like the classic appearance of a Georgian, baluster form coffee pot complete with original engraved crest. Interestingly, the other side has had a domestic scene expertly chased to the centre and features five seated people around a table with the central person pouring cream from a jug in to one of five cups - presumably in preparation for the coffee from this pot!

Made by the premier hollowware specialist maker, James & William Priest, this coffee pot has a good solid weight and just oozes high quality. The pot is fitted with its original pearwood handle, a superb cast swan-neck spout and has a gadroon mount around the top rim that was particularly popular at the time of manufacture. It is in excellent condition throughout with a lovely patina.
