Tea caddy spoons do not come much earlier in date than this example. Caddy spoons were first introduced circa 1770 and this example dates from the middle years of that decade. It bears two "TC" maker's marks for the important flatware specialist, Thomas Chawner. The spoon has a deep, fluted ladle style bowl that typifies early examples. The handle has crisp feather edge decoration and original script initials to the terminal.
