Galleon Picture-back Table Spoon, 1781

A rare example of a highly sought after picture back spoon. This galleon back is unusually to the reverse of a table spoon - mostly it is found on teaspoons. The detail is a little soft around the sails, but remains crisp around the hull. This Hanoverian table spoon is in good condition although the bowl is quite bright. It bears a full set of clear hallmarks.

This particular picture back depicting a three masted galleon in full sail is likely to celebrate a British naval victory.
