Fiddle & Shell Toddy Ladle, Perth 1830

Sold
Toddy Ladle - Fiddle & Shell pattern - Perth circa 1830 by Robert Keay & Nephew - 15.5cm long; 32g - WY/7190
Fiddle & Shell was a favoured pattern for Scottish silversmiths and this handsome toddy ladle nicely displays the shell motif to the terminal. Made in Perth, the spoon is clearly struck to the reverse side with two "R&RK" maker marks for the most prolific from the city, Robert Keay in combination with his nephew, the younger Robert Keay. This mark is less frequently encountered than the usual "RK maker's mark of the senior Robert Keay working alone. The toddy ladle is in excellent condition throughout with no personalised engravings, nor any erasures.
