Circular George I Silver Salt Pot, 1714 by William Looker
Sold
Salt Pot - Circular - London 1714 by William Looker - 6.7cm diameter base; 42g - TC/6553
This is a scarce design for a George I period silver salt pot design that is far less commonly found than the traditional octagonal trencher.
This circular salt cellar has a deep well and bears London hallmarks for Britannia standard silver (purer than Sterling) to the underside. The "Lo" maker's mark for William Looker has two pellets above denoting "eyes" as a rebus for the silversmith's name.
This salt pot remains in fine condition.
