Silver by the Arts & Crafts lady silversmith Ellen Woodward is very rarely encountered and this is a particularly lovely silver caddy spoon bearing her mark. The spoon has a cast floral handle and a planished, shovel-shaped bowl. It is in fine condition.
Ellen Caroline Woodward worked as an artist, sculptor and art metal worker and was initially in partnership with Agnes Withers of Johnson St., Notting Hill Gate, London under the name "The Misses Woodward & Withers". This partnership was dissolved in 1913 and presumably by the date of this spoon she was working under her own account.
