Caddy Spoon - Hooded Kidney Bowl - Birmingham 1813 by Cocks &amp; Bettridge - 6.6cm long - SD/2116</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Caddy spoons with a kidney-shaped bowl are a rarity in themselves, but this is the first time we have encountered one with a part covered bowl. Described by John Norie in "Caddy Spoons: An Illustrated Guide" as hoods, these additions were a trademark feature for a portion of the Cocks & Bettridge output. The kidney-shaped bowl was unique to this partnership too, although more commonly they are found lengthways, as opposed to sideways seen in this example.

This Georgian period silver caddy spoon has a hollow fiddle pattern handle with pretty engraving and a vacant cartouche, plus the bowl is cleverly and attractively engraved too. This rare spoon is in fine condition and worthy of any collection.
