Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A fantastic quality George II    period tea kettle complete with it's original stand and integral burner.

This impressive kettle takes the standard form of the early    18th Century and is of the highest quality. The swing handle retains it's    original leather cover (for insulation from the heat) which although has    obvious signs of age is actually in very good condition. The secret flush    cover for the cover is of the very highest quality and is "lost"    within the band of engraving that envelops the shoulder of the kettle. The    body is round and plain with a beautifully made spout and an elaborate    engraved coat-of-arms to the opposite side.

The kettle is attached to it's stand via two pins in the    traditional manner. This allows the user to carry the complete article as    one piece, safely pour from the kettle by removing the back pin or remove    both pins for filling the burner or for cleaning.

The stand is of an equally high quality and although it is    unmarked is certainly original to the piece. There are three cast legs    terminating in shell feet. To the centre, and integral to the stand, is the    fuel reservoir with a lift off cover.

This kettle was made by the famous hugeonot    silversmith Simon Pantin, although the makers mark is rubbed (when purchased    by us the underside was black from the heat of the flame) the mark begins    with an "S" and is the very distinctive shape of Pantin's 1729    mark.

The condition is superb with all moving pieces (hinges etc)    in good working order with no signs of any wear or slackness. The silver is    of a good hefty gauge throughout and therefore there are neither signs of    damage nor repairs. The interior has been professionally cleaned, but the    underside of the kettle has been left partially blackened to prevent further    wear to the hallmarks.
