The Service

We are pleased to be offering an excellent late 20th Century silver 6 place settings, hand-made, silver canteen of cutlery,  made by one of the most important Arts & Crafts silver manufacturers of all time.

The service provides for eight pieces per 6 place settings with an additional three table spoons for serving purposes.

All the pieces were hand-made in the George Hart workshop in Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire. This company is the continuation of the Guild of Handicraft which was initially founded by Charles Robert Ashbee in 1896. Every piece bears the famous “GofH” maker’s mark.

Each piece has a simple plain design, with the soup and dessert spoons showing their original planished finish (hammered).  Even the knife hafts are handmade. The coffee, tea and table spoons all have a rattail to the reverse of the bowl.
