Boxed 54-piece Silver Old English Pattern Canteen, Sheffield 1927 by John Round
The Service
We are pleased to be offering a beautifully presented 20th Century silver 6 place settings boxed canteen in Old English Pattern.
The service includes a lovely combination of solid silver, mother or pearl, bone handled items. Even the wooden box is different to the standard with an attractive inlaid border and so setting it apart from the rest. Opening the box reveals a sumptuous array of dining pieces with bone handled fish eaters within the lid that are ideal for a fish starter and mother of pearl handled dessert eaters that work perfectly with a fruit based starter or dessert. The large forks are for use with the main meal. The pull out drawer contains the soup spoons, puddings spoons, serving spoons and small forks.
All the pieces in this cutlery service were made in Sheffield and benefit from having no personalised engravings to them. They date from 1927 and bear the mark of John Round.
Old English Pattern
Old English Pattern was first introduced circa 1770 and has always been a very favoured pattern due to its elegant and simple form. It has been produced continually to the present day with a resurgence of popularity in the early 20th Century.

Presentation
This canteen is offered within its original beautifully made oak box. There is no key (a simple job for a locksmith should you require one). The box has an inlaid border and has a brass plaque to the centre. The interior of the box is lined with blue baize with each piece having its own slot. The blue baize is a little worn in places, but is generally in good condition.
As with all the canteens available from our web-site, we are happy to send a sample place setting for approval, on receipt of a fully refundable surety payment, prior to purchasing this canteen.
