Quart Tankard - Straight Sided with Central Girdle - London 1736 by John Fawdry - 18cm high; 12.7cm diameter base; 1000 ml volume; 776g - LS/1317

This is a lovely quality, straight sided Georgian period silver tankard making an imposing vessel for drinking beer! This 2 pint ale tankard is of the highest quality with a good solid weight and a well made handle, hinge and thumb-piece. Both the body and cover are stamped with matching George II period silver hallmarks. It bears an original and discreetly placed engraved betrothal triangle to the handle - "W" over "W*I" - where the top "W" is the initial letter of the happy couple's surname. The handle appropriately terminates in a heart-shape. Excellent original condition throughout.
