Spoon - Trefid; Bead Rat-tail - London 1699 by Francis Archbold - 19.3cm long; 47g - EA/8761

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a superb example of a late 17th century trefid spoon with the desirable feature of a rattail with bead decoration. Adding further interest to this fine spoon are the small "ears" to the terminal and the original "W" over "TM" dot-prick engraved betrothal triangle ("W" being the first letter of the happy couple's surname). The spoon dates from the William & Mary period and has a fabulous set of Britannia Standard hallmarks. The condition is excellent throughout with a full, unworn bowl and original patina. A first rate example of its type.
