Sweetmeat Forks (6) - Engraved Trefid - London circa 1680 by Anthony Nelme (?) - 11cm long; 55g - NC/9842</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A beautiful and rare set of 6 silver sweetmeat forks dating from the latter part of the 17th century - about 5 years either side of 1680. These trefid forks bear an attractive and original engraved design to both sides and would have been used to eat sweetmeats (confectionary). They are in excellent original condition and each bear a clear maker's mark - possibly two conjoined letters - one being an "N". The master silversmith Anthony Nelme used a very similar mark and it may be well be a second, unrecorded mark used by him.
